The BMI method
BMI became popular as obesity started to become an increasing issue in the Western society. BMI provides a simple measure of a person’s “fatness” or “thinness”. BMI allows health professionals to discuss over- and under-weight problems more objectively with their patients.
Be aware that BMI is meant to be used as a simple means of classifying physically inactive individuals with an average body composition.
